Ducktown is the historically Italian neighborhood of Atlantic City loaded with family owned businesses and great restaurants, like White House Subs, Angelo's Fairmount Tavern and Dock's Oyster House - all three still thriving. Ducktown is in the midst of a revitalization and great progress has been made with additional authentic themed restaurants, a renovated Boardwalk Hall and the arts at Dante' Hall and the vicinity. Unfortunately, the booming Atlantic City drug culture found its way into Ducktown and occupies a significant area between Georgia and Texas and Atlantic and Pacific Avenues. Heroin and other drugs are openly sold, people are publicly intoxicated, streets are not safe at night and human suffering has reached intolerable conditions. Homelessness has become quite notable and beneath the shining buildings are alleys and pockets of self-destruction and a population dying one day at a time. Recovery Force, located in this vicinity, inevitably found unmet needs in its own backyard and had decided to target all of its recovery support recources in this area and work to acquire more support. Recovery Coach and volunteer boots on the ground strive to improve the health and happiness of this portion of the Ducktown neighborhood one life at a time, one hour at a time. You will find the trials and tribulations and progress of this initiative here as it evolves and lives and a community become restored.
The Ducktown Initiative focuses on the areas on Atlantic and Pacific Avenues between California and Mississippi Avenues.
